&lt;br/&gt;The Spiritual Gathering for Radical Faeries is often defined by its limitations. Since its first incarnation it has been open to gay men resonating with the words “spiritual”, “gathering”, “radical” and “faeries”. If you are not a gay man, we hope that you will excuse receiving this invitation and we ask your understanding that we are trying to send this to everyone who identities as a gay man, and who may wish to attend the gathering.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Actually the success of these gatherings dating from 1979 can be seen in the explosion of faerie events for all, especially at the Sanctuary in Wolf Creek that was purchased to have our own property on which to hold the Spiritual Gatherings for Radical Faeries. The SGRF (Wolf Creek Summer Men's Gathering) will happen this year from Friday the 13th of June through the eve of the Summer Solstice, June 20th. It will be followed immediately by a Solstice Celebration open to all, and then by the Nomenus Great Circle, the semi-annual business meeting for the Church of Nomenus, from Sunday, June 22nd through Tuesday, June 24th.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Spiritual Gathering for Radical Faeries 2008 presents a Return to Magick
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A Return to the indefinable Energy that bonds us as Faeries. This practice, born in 1979, when it was not known who would feel called to a “Spiritual Gathering for Radical Faeries”, sparked the tradition of gay men gathering to create an Intentional Community to explore and re-create our visions, dreams, his-stories, and beings in a loving, supportive, heart centered space.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A return to Magick. We commune to discover and share our innate gifts and energies, imbuing all of our actions with resonance, grace, generosity, and a connection to the divine spirit within each of us. We congregate in ritual to raise sacred energy for the healing of ourselves and the Earth. We meditate in solitary calm, freeing ourselves of the strictures that impede our true beings.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A return to Radical. Our instinctual essence is radical. It is radical for men to relate to one another in loving, non-competitive ways. It is radical for men to wear skirts and hold one another in embrace. It is radical to celebrate our erections, both priapic and from labors. It is radical to gather in kindred spirit, making decisions on the basis of consensus. It is radical to give everyone the space to give voice without judgment.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A return to Fabulousness. The loving radiance that shines from each of us as we celebrate one another. Dressing for dinner, the fabulous No-Talent show, the mostly animal (I mean annual) Miss Wolf Creek pageant. The spontaneous performances and the enraptured participatory audiences that experience them. The sweet release of a breath held too long while hiding our true selves in the outside world.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A return to Exploration. Our intentional community gives us the freedom and space to move outside our usual patterns and truly explore what it means to be a radical faerie. To open to the New: new people, new ideas, new feelings, new ways of being, new ways to express ourselves, new behaviors. To reclaim the childlike wonder that lies dormant within us.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A return to Re-creation. We lavishly bestow upon ourselves the energy, the time and the space to nurture and actualize our evolution and creation.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A return to Sex. Putting the sensual back into consensual. We celebrate our human drive to procreate by our shared physical delight in one another, and by our progeneration of our divine faerie selves within our Gathering and within each of us in our travels afterward. A return to Freedom from Sexual Oppression, where each touch and desire is by mutual consent, and sexual expression protects and nurtures each himself and each other.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A return to Community. We gather in our Faerie village, joyously engaged in the everyday rituals of village life. We collectively cook communal meals, ensuring that individual dietary needs are met. Our generous loving energy assures equanimity in washing dishes, cleanup, and the myriad of tasks needed to support our village.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A return to Heart. From the daily morning Heart Circle through all of the day's activities, we share ourselves from the very center of our being. We uphold the principle that all of our communication is heart engaged so that every exchange between us nurtures both our hearts.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A return to Ritual. Assembling ourselves in a community determined space, time, and manner to raise group spiritual energy and have it move through/for/within us, celebrating our divine connections.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A return to Ourselves. What special feelings, thoughts, ideals, discussions, heart space, ways of being can we access only in Male Space? How do we relate to others not at or unable to attend the SGRF? How are the definitions of “men” and “gay” evolving? Does language itself limit our ability to share our identities and experiences? What happens to us after the SGRF?
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;What to bring:
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A tent – the weather is perfect for outdoor sleeping. Special Needs (indoor) housing is available, but it quite limited in quantity. If you need this accommodation, please let the SGRF focalizers know as soon as possible. There are a limited number of tents available at the Land, if you would like to use one, please let us know. Lack of proper planning does not constitute Special Needs – showing up with nothing and/or no arrangements to take care of your sleeping space needs does not guarantee you a space.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;For your tent – a tarp, a rainflap (yes, it does rain in June, although not reliably), ribbons, signs, a sling – something to make it unmistakably yours.
&lt;br/&gt;	
&lt;br/&gt;Bedding – sleeping bags, air mattresses, foam, pillows, blankets; the limited quantities of these on hand at the Sanctuary will be needed for Special Needs housing.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Personal care things – shampoo, conditioner, razor, toothbrush, towel, sunscreen, moisturizer, toothpaste, condoms, lube, handcuffs, insect repellent, personal sexual devices, teddy bears, makeup, nail polish, etc. We know that you will bring only bio-degradable and/or earth friendly products.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Clothes and other things to wear and share– Days are warm, nights can be cool. Bring appropriate footwear if you want to hike in the hills AND appear as a contestant in the Miss Wolf Creek pageant. The drag closet is available to fill in some missing items, but chances are that there won’t be a pair of ruby slippers in size 11 ½ EEE waiting for you here. Ditto for a pair of hiking boots in size 10 D. That size 20 cerise taffeta evening gown hanging in your closet at home would look fabulous at dinner one night.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A number for the No Towel Lint show. Drums for the drumming circle, maracas, tambourines, guitars, sweet voices for singing in harmony.
&lt;br/&gt; 
&lt;br/&gt;Boundless Good Energy – We know we don’t have to remind you about this. Caring, Support, Generosity, Sharing, Enthusiasm, Goodwill, and a host of other positive attitudes too numerous to list are the essence of Faerie existence. We gather to celebrate them with one another.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The small-as-we-can-possibly-make-it list of things you really can’t bring:
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Your pet – sorry, but there are already caretaker familiars in residence here. New animals upset the balance and have the distinct possibility of creating problems. Please leave your familiars at home.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;	City attitude and expectations for City services: We hold gatherings in a rural remote area so that we can commune with Nature and each other. There is lousy cell phone reception here (Hey, it’s in the mountains!). Nomenus has only dial-up access to the Net, and that is used for business purposes. Although Grants Pass is only 25 miles away, do you really want to drive there for beer or a burger? The Wolf Creek General Store and the Circle of Wolves can supply your tobacco and beer/wine needs. Actually the Circle of Wolves, especially Nancy and Karen, are our special friends and loooooove visitors from the Sanctuary. They have an exciting array of good wines and beers, plus great outfits, frou-frou, and bric-a-brac.
&lt;br/&gt;

      <title>Rideshare: Bay Area to Portland to Wolf Creek, back to Bay Area - Posting for Paddy</title>

      <description>&lt;div&gt;Please join me for any portion of this journey, to share company and hopefully some gas $. I have a few stops on my trip that ultimately is to go from the bay, to Portland, Wolf Creek, and back to the bay. Some of the dates are flexible, so please call if any of this sounds close to right for you. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Saturday April 26 leaving in the am from North Bay to Fort Bragg/Mendocino. 
&lt;br/&gt;Later that day head up to the land at Wolf Creek and stay the night there. 
&lt;br/&gt;Sunday 27th, early rise and drive to Portland. 
&lt;br/&gt;Monday 28th return to Wolf Creek ! (probably early afternoon) 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Drive back to the East Bay on Friday, May 2nd. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Oh, and there's a small chance that we will be taking a baby goat all the way from the bay to Portland. This is not confirmed, but would be a dream come true. So it may be necessary for you to love baby goats.

&lt;br/&gt;Seeing a desire appear, Myself and another (Henry) have putting together the kindling to perhaps light the fire.

&lt;br/&gt;Our thoughts are to do a Faerie Coffee, to start up, meet, and converse with other faeries.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The current schedule is Saturday April 26, 2008 at 2 pm

&lt;br/&gt;3922 West Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, California 90029
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;They are located in the Sunset Junction area, on the south side (across the street from Rough Trade, you where that is, don't deny it).

      <title>Harvey Milk &amp;amp; Harry Hay - A Proposal and Request</title>

&lt;br/&gt; 
&lt;br/&gt;For the last four years I’ve been working with folks here in San Francisco to place a memorial sculpture of Supervisor Harvey Milk in San Francisco City Hall. It has taken that long to raise the funds, choose the artists and haggle with City Hall about where to place it. But all will come to fruition this May 22 when, on what would have been Harvey’s 78th birthday, the memorial will be unveiled in a free public event at San Francisco City Hall. There is only one remaining problem; our group is still about $10,000 short of the cost for the event and we have until April 30th to raise it.
&lt;br/&gt; 
&lt;br/&gt;I am asking for your assistance with a proposal that will help the Milk Memorial project and also pay tribute to Harry Hay. I want to raise enough money from Harry’s friends and admirers so that we can collectively be a sponsor of the unveiling under the name In Memory of Harry Hay.  Harvey Milk’s dogged insistence that LGBT people represent and speak for themselves as a People who are a valued part of the larger society is the same spirit that drove Harry to start both Mattachine and the Radical Faeries. Harvey and Harry are part of the same historical narrative of radical change and social justice that is at the heart of the LGBT movement. It’s a narrative that can be easily forgotten in the rush to “normalize” the queer agenda.  For me, Harvey’s statue in City Hall is one of a string of projects over the next decade that I hope will help to preserve and pass on to future generations that story and vision.
&lt;br/&gt; 
&lt;br/&gt;There are several levels of sponsorship, each with its own form of public acknowledgement and recognition. I’d like to raise $5000, which would make In Memory of Harry Hay one of the largest donors to the project. That would make an important statement. One thing I’ve learned working on this is that Harvey still scares off the traditional sources of big money donations. We have had great success with lots of $1 - $500 donors and raised a significant amount from their incredible generosity. But only one large donor stepped up to help us, The Bob Ross Foundation, which two years ago pledged to pay the remaining costs for the sculpture itself.  All of those people, foundations and companies about whom you are probably thinking, “Did they ask…?” we have asked. The silence has been deafening, the responses paltry, but Harvey and the grassroots people power movement he symbolizes still makes a lot of those folks jittery. 
&lt;br/&gt; 
&lt;br/&gt;If you have already donated to the Memorial project I want to thank you.  If have not or would like to make an additional contribution to the In Memory of Harry Hay effort, there are several ways to do so. You can go to our website, www.milkmemorial.org and click on the Donate Now link. Checks can be sent to: Harvey Milk City Hall Memorial Committee, 1800 Market Street Ste. 42, San Francisco, CA 94102. Checks should be made out to SF Pride/Milk Memorial. We also have incentives for donations over $1000 which you can see at our website. One is a signed and matted print of the Dan Nicolleta photo of Harvey which the design of the statue is based on. All funds collected in excess of costs will be put into a project to create an educational curriculum about Harvey for use in schools.

      <title>Bennett remembered for puppets and humor</title>

      <description>&lt;div&gt;I was very sad to hear about Bennett leaving this wold. I have many fond memories of him. Here is one from 1986.
&lt;br/&gt;There was a big faerie party at Golden Gate House, a huge flat in San Francisco where David Kerlick, Jim, the late Leo Ayrs (sp?) and the late Gary Compton and at various times other faeries, lived. Harry &amp;amp; John were there, visiting from LA.
&lt;br/&gt; About 10 PM, and it's a cold foggy night, Bennett, naked at the party, walked out the door in the buff. It was an African-American neighborhood at the rime, and myself and others were worried what might happen to Bennett wandering the streets buck naked!
&lt;br/&gt; About 1 AM Bennett returns with a big smile on his face, naturally prompting several of us to inquire about his adventures.
&lt;br/&gt; Bennett, said," I walked to the park (Alamo Square) a few blocks away and laid down face down on a bench. Then I waited a long, long time.  
&lt;br/&gt;It was cold, but the colder it got , the hotter I got! Then I saw there was something there. It was a man! "
&lt;br/&gt;Bennett did not have to tell the rest of the story. We, like Bennett, now all had smiles on our faces.

&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I am on the verge of buying an old makeout van or a truck with camper . I am slowly mapping out a loose itenerary for takin the doglin on a giant cross country trek stopping at different intentional communities(wolf creek, zuni mtn, kawashaway,twin oaks, etc.) and festivals (autonomous mutant fest, lamas @ zuni, hobo fest, some political events, etc) and more. We are planning on taking about a year, maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less, as nothing is set in stone.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I am looking for any great ideas from folks. So if ya know of anything happening that is neat,kooky, or not to be missed let me know. I hope to see a few of you along the way. I plan on hittining Minneapolis, Brooklyn, Asheville, Nashvegas, Eugene Olympia, Los Angeles and more along the way. If you need to get away for a bit and need a ride lemme know.

&lt;br/&gt;Have you ever felt that being homosexual, bisexual, or transsexual is a good thing rather than an abomination?
&lt;br/&gt;Have you ever thought that you exist the way you are for a reason rather than as an abnormality?
&lt;br/&gt;Have you ever considered that being gay, bi, lesbian, or trans might be a gift rather than a burden?
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Chances are you haven't because these ideas aren't modeled for us. What if you could explore these ideas for yourself in a safe and supportive environment?
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;This book club is a gateway to embracing yourself as a queer being. We do this by exploring the writings of those who've journeyed ahead of us. Our vision is that each of us in the group move toward a greater understanding and acceptance of ourselves as queer beings. We hold a sacred space where personal sharing and deep listening are practiced. The goal for each of us is to move closer to being able to say YES to the questions above.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;This book club is just like every other book club in that we read books. We differ in the way that we work with the material. Each week we bring more than our thoughts, we bring our experience of how the books are affecting us, changing us, and challenging us. We are asked to go deeper into the material. What made our hearts joyful and what made our hearts ache?

&lt;br/&gt;We will meet twice a month on the first and third Monday evenings. We begin on March 3rd and we will meet at the First Unitarian Church of San Jose.

&lt;br/&gt;I'm wondering if any of you are going to Pantheacon this year. I've seen some of you around in years past, and wanted to meet you. I'm kind of shy about aproaching strangers. This year I'm making the effort to introduce myself, so that I can make some new friends. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I'm a pagan gay guy. I live down here in San Jose. I'm technically still a part of the gardenerian tradition, but I haven't practiced with them in years. I guess I'm a solitary practitioner. I'm not strictly wiccan either. I'm more guided by working with Spirit, spirit guides and ancestors. And as I'm sure you are aware that can take you in many, hard to define or label directions. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I'm also cute, smart and have a great sense of humor. Although my icon's looking a bit distorted right now! 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I'd like to meet and hang out with some of you guys at the conference if you'll be there. I'm looking for more friends, especially gay men. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;This is the first year that I've signed up for the whole conference and intend to make the most of it. Thus I'll probably be there each day.

Among the slanders posted were accusations that Liberation News is opposed to Ron Paul because we support Hillary Clinton and her healthcare program.  I tried posting the following response, but it was censored on the site:
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Ron Paul supporter:  “it's pointed out that yes Ron Paul is a racist but Stevies candidate Hillary is even worse.” 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Steven Argue: “I don’t support Hillary Clinton. Never have, but you don’t listen. This is pure slander.” 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;They then repeat their slander that I support Hillary Clinton for her healthcare plan saying, “It's pointed out that Stevie is willing to sacrifice liberty for a bogus health care plan”

&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Ron Paul supporter: “Then Stevie moves the goal posts again. Waaa. He's being censored.” 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Steven Argue: “I repeatedly posted a response to the slander that I support Hillary Clinton’s healthcare plan, and the response is censored every time. I have no motive to make that up. I mentioned it because I wanted people to see my response. Frankly, I’m quite surprised it is happening. Let’s see if this one goes up.”
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;That response, as I feared, was also censored.  Revealing the reasons behind the Ron Paul censorship at the site, the Ron Paul backers posted the following:
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;“Get off your sectarianism.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;“What you don’t get is that there are only two ways we're going to end the occupation of Iraq: 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;“1.) A recession, and a bad one. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;“2.) Convincing the vast majority of conservative Americans it's wrong. Ron Paul reaches these people. The guy with the Free Mumia shirt selling the "Socialist Worker" doesn't.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;“To get anything done in a democracy you're going to have to work with people you don't agree with and people you might not even like. People in grown up countries do this all the time. They're called "coalitions". 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;“The Labor Party in Israel, for example, makes alliances with the ultra orthodox. The Liberal Democrats have made common cause with the Tories in the UK. The left made common cause with Vicente Fox to get the PRI out of power in Mexico. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;“It's only in the puritan USA where everybody thinks you have to like all your political allies and agree with them on everything.”
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Besides the fact that the majority of Americans already oppose the war; and besides the fact that these points show a total lack of understanding of the bourgeois nature of the coalitions in the countries mentioned; and besides showing a total lack of understanding of what it will take to end the war (I discuss this at the end of the article); New York City Indymedia’s lack of confidence in the ability of people to change has caused them to build a coalition with a capitalist politician who is a racist, homophobic, anti-worker, anti-environmental, bible thumping, sexist, anti-labor, anti-poor, free-market privatization fanatic.  On top of that, they censor the left in order to achieve that coalition.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;While a Ron Paul presidency would likely end the war, at what price would this come?  
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Ron Paul uses the term liberty a lot, so let’s take a look at what he means by liberty.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The liberty Ron Paul demands is: 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The liberty of the capitalists to exploit without labor laws and environmental protections; 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The "state’s right” to prevent Blacks from voting without the interference of the Voting Rights Act (voted against its renewal in Congress); 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The "states right" to ban abortions without the interference of Roe v Wade; 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The freedom of the government to deny same-sex rights (was an original sponsor of the "Marriage Protection Act"); 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The freedom of children not to attend schools (would abolish public education); 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The freedom of the elderly and disabled to starve (would abolish Social Security); 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The freedom of the sick to die (would abolish Medicare); 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The freedom of the U.S. to destroy the planet without even the most basic limits on carbon emissions (opposes signing on to Kyoto and all other carbon limitations); 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;This is, in short, the liberty of a wealthy minority to make their money from the exploitation of labor and the environment with zero interference from labor laws, environmental laws, and the IRS. While his program is liberty for a minority of rich white heterosexual males, it is slavery for the majority.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Simply put, Ron Paul’s promises to end the war are not enough when one looks at the fact that he would eliminate two centuries of hard fought social progress in the United States. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Some of the anti-war backers of Ron Paul argue that we don’t have to worry about these things because Ron Paul will never be elected.  They think that backing his campaign is a way to win over his supporters.  What is clear is that such arguments could only come from people who are utterly lost and rudderless, which leaves unclear the question of what they are winning Ron Paul supporters over to.  They are supporting a candidate whose program is George Wallace on crack cocaine!  Yet, the ultimate absurdity is the fact that they are backing a candidate whose most reassuring feature is that he won’t get elected!  Is this point lost on these people?  And is the chance that their support may help him get elected a chance they really want to take?  Nobody thought that third party candidate Jesse (the body) Ventura would get elected in Minnesota either, but he was, and as soon as he was elected he discarded his libertarian values on drug legalization and prostitution and instead proceeded to carrying out attacks on labor and carrying out disastrous cuts in education and other social spending. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Others argue that if Ron Paul is elected, he will easily be able to pull the troops out of Iraq, but congress will block him on the other issues.  There is no doubt that they would block parts of Ron Paul’s program in order to prevent the social unrest such measures would cause, but with the ruling class’s desire to step up the exploitation of labor and the environment through eliminating regulation and through privatization, there can be little doubt that if he is able to maintain his presidency without being shot, aspects of Ron Paul’s domestic program would be implemented.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Today, in the United States we have two rightwing capitalist parties that rule.  The activists who run New York Indymedia are floating around utterly lost and rudderless.   On the one hand, their anarchist philosophy prohibits them from putting forward their own leadership or supporting socialist candidates; and on the other hand, they are stuck in the “real politic” of supporting “lesser evil” capitalist politicians.  It is these characteristics that made them susceptible to being swept up on the Ron Paul band wagon. Despite their “libertarian” values of “freedom”, they have now taken this to the point where they are even willing to censor critics of Ron Paul on their website.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;While Ron Paul, the only Republican candidate opposed to the war, is not worth supporting, the front running Democrats are also very bad.  Clinton, Obama, and Edwards, are all pro-war.   Both Edwards and Clinton voted for the war. Obama supporters claim that Obama never supported the war.  While Obama was not yet in the Senate at the time of the Iraq war vote, Obama, Edwards, and Clinton have all voted for war appropriations. This puts them all in the position of having supported the war.  Over a million Iraqis are dead due to the U.S. invasion and occupation, and billions of dollars have been squandered. Obama, by helping pay for the war, has his hands in this mass murder just as Clinton and Edwards do.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Obama’s Iraq War De-escalation Act of 2007 supposedly would have begun troop withdrawal in May 2007.  Yet, it didn't call for full nor immediate withdrawal.  In addition, under the bill, the withdrawal could be halted if the Iraqi government met a number of criteria laid out by the Bush administration.  These included a broad number of things such as changes in the use of oil revenue, government reforms, an end to sectarian violence, and other economic and reconstruction criteria.  In Obama’s bill we have a crystal ball into the future.  The excuses laid out in the bill will be heard once again as Obama, Clinton, or Edwards explain why they are keeping the troops in Iraq for their entire presidency; that is unless other actions are taken by the people to stop the war.   
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;This brings us to the fundamental question of how to stop the war.  If we are to listen to the Ron Paul censors / supporters at NYC Indymedia the only thing we can do to stop the war is support Ron Paul or hope for (pray for?) economic collapse.  Yet, this ignores other less damaging possibilities.   These include the troops refusing to fight, a general strike, strikes against the movement of war materials, or socialist revolution.  
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;1. The troops refusing to fight.  This worked in the struggle to end the U.S. aggression against Vietnam.  It was the socialist movement who were the primary organizers of the anti-Vietnam War movement. That movement, immediately after the government’s murders at Kent State in May 1970 had 8 million students out on strike, and some Universities, such a Berkley, were taken over by students and faculty as anti-war universities. After May 1970, the majority of those drafted were already opposed to the war before they got to Vietnam. Refusal to fight was widespread, and the fragging of pro-war officers was common.  Nixon could not continue to wage a war with soldiers who refused to fight.  This, along with the heroic resistance of the Vietnamese, brought an end to the war in Vietnam.  
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Troops refusing to fight also helped bring an end to Russian involvement in the First World War, and helped bring down two pro-war governments in 1917.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;2. A general strike or strikes against the movement of war materials.  Strikes with such political demands have a long history of success.  France has many good social programs because the workers there were willing to shut down their country to achieve them; and they are still willing to do the same to protect those hard fought gains. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;3. Socialist revolution.  The October Russian Revolution achieved an end to Russian involvement in the First World War.  This was a good thing, despite the undemocratic nature of the revolution.  Learning from those lessons, Liberation News opposes the dictatorial system of one party rule and raises the banner of revolutionary democratic socialism, while at the same time learning from many of the revolutionary strategies of Lenin and Trotsky.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Protests, pickets, information distribution, building a socialist movement, and answering pro-Ron Paul and pro-Obama-Clinton-Edwards propaganda all help towards building the momentum needed in achieving the kinds of actions that can end the war.  Putting support behind Ron Paul only helps an extreme rightwing movement achieve the mantel of leadership for an anti-war sentiment that already represents majority public opinion.  In addition, backing a guy like Ron Paul who just crossed a picket line to appear on Jay Lenno’s “Tonight Show” destroys the anti-war strategy of reaching out to the working class, as does backing a racist candidate like Ron Paul hurt the ability to reach out to the multi-racial working class.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;No to the Democrats and Republicans!
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;U.S. Out of Iraq Now!
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;No to Insurance Company Healthcare, For Socialized Medicine!
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Save the Planet, Curb Carbon Emissions Now!
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Vote Socialist, Build the Labor Movement, Build the Anti-War Movement, Build the Socialist Movement.

&lt;br/&gt;For the most part the Iowa caucuses were business as usual for the Democrat and Republican Parties.  Among the Democrats, “Anti-war” and “pro-single payer health care” Democrat Dennis Kucinich put his support behind pro-war anti--single payer health care, Barrack Obama.  Yet on the far right, anti-war Libertarian and Republican Ron Paul gained a stunning 10% of the vote.  
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Seeing the failure of the Democrats to deliver a candidate worth supporting; some left leaning individuals have been suggesting support to Ron Paul.  One is anti-war Vietnam veteran Stan Goff, who suggested in his January 4, 2008 article ”Monkey Wrenching the System, Ron Paul’s Revolution” that people vote in the primaries for Ron Paul, switching party registration right away if they live in a state where such a move is necessary to vote in the Republican primaries.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;At the root of the Ron Paul "revolution" is the dismantling of Social Security and the Department of Education as well as other basic social programs, and the elimination of worker and environmental protections.  Advances like single payer health care?  No way.  Ron Paul's message is that you need to take care of yourself, and that there shouldn't be such government programs, nor such interference with private profit.  While he puts forward reasons for not supporting going to war abroad, his domestic policies would ignite civil war at home.  
&lt;br/&gt; 
&lt;br/&gt;In addition to pretending he's against all government, he's for outlawing abortion and supports the continued ban on same-sex marriage.  He was one of the original co-sponsors of the "Marriage Protection Act".
&lt;br/&gt; 
&lt;br/&gt;He's also a religious extremist who thinks that creationism should be taught in the schools.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;On race, Ron Paul was one of 33 Congress members to vote against the renewal of the Voting Rights Act, an act that was first passed to give Blacks in the south the right to vote.  On a similar note, he says the Civil Rights Act violates the Constitution and impedes on individual liberties.  Speaking of Blacks in Washington DC he states in campaign literature, "95 percent of African Americans in are semi-criminal or entirely criminal".  
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;No wonder the American Nazi Party has close relations with him (see letter from Nazi Commander Bill White below).  In addition, Ron Paul has the support of other white supremacists such as David Duke, and has knowingly taken donations from former KKK Grand Wizard Don Black.
&lt;br/&gt; 
&lt;br/&gt;Hell would freeze over before I'd support Ron Paul.  And being an atheist; that will be a long time.
&lt;br/&gt; 
&lt;br/&gt;There are plenty of candidates to the left of the Democrats worth considering supporting who oppose the war, would preserve public education and Social Security, who would provide single payer or socialized medicine, and who aren’t raving racist, homophobic, and sexist “Libertarian” fanatics.  Why not look at them rather than someone from the loony right?  
&lt;br/&gt;

However, reading the latest release from his campaign spokesman, I am compelled to tell the truth about Ron Paul’s extensive involvement in white nationalism.

&lt;br/&gt;Both Congressman Paul and his aides regularly meet with members of the Stormfront set, American Renaissance, the Institute for Historic Review, and others at the Tara Thai restaurant in Arlington, Virginia, usually on Wednesdays. &lt;br/&gt;For his spokesman to call white racialism a “small ideology” and claim white activists are “wasting their money” trying to influence Paul is ridiculous. Paul is a white nationalist of the Stormfront type who has always kept his racial views and his views about world Judaism quiet because of his political position.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I don’t know that it is necessarily good for Paul to “expose” this. However, he really is someone with extensive ties to white nationalism and for him to deny that in the belief he will be more respectable by denying it is outrageous — and I hate seeing people in the press who denounce racialism merely because they think it is not fashionable.

The gathering will emphasize practical hands-on skill share and DIY projects. This gathering will initially be held at Wolf Creek Sanctuary in southern Oregon, in the late Summer or early Fall, with an intended outcome of developing a permaculture plan for the Sanctuary. The gathering still needs a collectively chosen name and group decision of the date. Come join the conversation and let's share our visions and make this community event a dynamic fantastic reality!

&lt;br/&gt;I am driving from the Los Angeles area (Costa Mesa) to Wolf Creek with my well behaved and sweet dog, Tish, Saturday morning October 20th. I am looking for faerie company for the trip. If you can help with driving, that’s great, and gas money is appreciated, though not necessary (No One Turned Away for Lack of Funds).
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The route I will be taking is I-405 to I-5 to Wolf Creek. I can stop along the way, especially for a relief driver, and with sufficient inducement can be persuaded to stop for someone in the Bay Area. Extra points if this is at an East Bay BART station.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;My return trip is probably before you would want to come back, since I am leaving on Saturday October 27th. If there is someone who would like a ride from Wolf Creek that day to points south, I would love the company.

      <description>&lt;div&gt;My name is Sunny.  I am a graduate student in the Sexuality Studies program at San Francisco State University.  I am conducting research on polyamory. The aim of my study is to explore how individuals in queer polyamorous triads discuss love in their relationships.  I am in search of individuals in queer, long-term (one year or longer), polyamorous triads to interview. Individuals must identify themselves and their relationships as queer, and the triads must be three people who are all sexually and romantically involved with one another.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Participating in this study will entail a 45-90 minute one-on-one interview at a comfortable and private location convenient for both of us to discuss your experiences and feelings of love while in a triad.

      <title>The Wolf Creek Sanctuary needs a vehicle!</title>

      <description>&lt;div&gt;The Sanctuary at Wolf Creek is currently without a vehicle. The Land truck died several months ago, as did the only personal vehicle of the Caretaking Community. Neither vehicle has been left in the Sanctuary parking lot. : ) Also not in the parking lot is a vehicle which DOES work.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;This is a serious situation that needs to be addressed. Emergency situations can arise at any time, as well as the regular ongoing need for food and propane. Visitors without their own transportation can't be picked up. Mail can't be gotten or sent.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Although visitors with vehicles have been helping as much as possible, it is not a workable solution to rely solely on them. I think it safe to say that the last thing any visitor would like to do is an extended shopping run into Grants Pass, especially if they are staying only a day or two.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;One faerie has indicated that he will be donating a truck to the Sanctuary in the near future. This truck will serve the needs of the Sanctuary for a long time to come – it is in excellent mechanical condition. Until this truck is donated, however, there remains the need for a working vehicle.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;There are a couple of ways that a vehicle could be made available for use at the Sanctuary.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;One is a donation of a vehicle. Nomenus is a tax exempt organization, and can accept tax deductible donations to the extent allowed by law. My local NPR station has daily announcements about the fact that they can accept vehicles and give a tax credit to the donor. We can do the same thing. Although Nomenus has been the recipient of many spontaneous donations of non-working vehicles in the parking lot, in this case the donation should be a working and serviceable one.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;You could also lend a vehicle to the Sanctuary. Nomenus will insure it, as well as cover any registration fees needed. Because of liability issues for Nomenus, in all cases the only driver(s) would be licensed and registered on the insurance, as well as being acceptable to the owner of the vehicle.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A third possibility is to rent a vehicle until one is donated. In calling around to rental agencies, the cost is prohibitively expensive. However, if you have a vehicle that you would rent to the Sanctuary for several months, we would be happy to look at that proposal.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Ideally the vehicle would be a truck with an open bed. This is due to the fact that propane can not be transported in an enclosed vehicle. Also worth considering is a car with a trailer hitch – the propane can be transported in the open trailer. But the Sanctuary will make do with whatever vehicle comes our way as long as it runs and can be legally registered.

A wonderful two-spirited woman is beginning to facilitate a group of nature-based spiritual queers and is extending an invitation to any and all who might be interested in discovering, exploring or deepening their relationship to pagan forms of spirituality, Native American, Buddhist or other Earth-centered traditions.       <title>Membership Discussion</title>

&lt;br/&gt;I guess I can start the Nomenus Membership discussion myself.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;For me, there are a couple of issues.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The first is that Nomenus was formed in an era of Identity Politics. There also was a history of movements started by gay people being co-opted, and this was part of the reasoning that led to the choice of “gay identified man” as the parameter for membership. At that time, in the mid-80's, it was still radical to identify as “gay”. It was even more radical for men (of any stripe) to band together to form a group  created to nurture and support one another. There was a feeling among the pioneers that we needed to learn to do everything for ourselves, and that this self-actualization could be manifested only in a group of likes.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;To me, one of the most sacred tenets of Nomenus is the way in which we make decisions. We decide on the basis of true consensus, whereby the group can not implement a decision if there is even one person opposed (“blocking”). There are many decisions that would have been made long ago if we were to use “majority rule” as our decision process. As far as I can tell, one of these would have been a change in the membership policy.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;It is true that there has been incredible change in the time since Nomenus was formed. Identifying as a particular “sexuality” has been supplanted by a system of affinity and acceptance that blurs a line once distinct. As a social construct, I identify as a “gay man”, in such places as my job, an outdoor group to which I belong, and Nomenus. It is still radical to do so in my job, where that alone is more than most can handle, much less all of the incredible variety of “sexualities” that my friends and acquaintances exhibit. It is markedly less so in Nomenus, where really I am known solely as Rula.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Even more distressing to some members of Nomenus is the fluidity of gender. What does being a “man” mean? At the last Great Circle, one member stated that he could not view another member as a “man”. How tightly should Nomenus parse the meaning of this one word? How can it be defined, as it is unlikely to pass consensus to change it, so as to not exclude. Is that even possible? Do we end up with some unreadable statement in excruciating detail that says effectively nothing? (Like some people view my sentences)
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I have witnessed what I consider unmistakable displays of sexism on the part of Nomenus members, especially when they are telling us “how it is” in other communities of which they would have only superficial knowledge (e.g. In the “lesbian” community). “Why should Nomenus have to change?”, they posit, “when other communities still exclude on the basis of gender.” I have seen the taint of exclusivity and entitlement demonstrated by some members – at least partially for which I blame the Reagan administration when it became socially acceptable to be selfish – with a sort of smugness about the continued denial of membership to others in our community. They are correct, and I guess they can be smug about it, “membership” will not yet (ever?) be consensed to change.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;On a practical front, what does “membership” mean? Lots of people use its limits as an excuse not to be involved. We get many comments from other communities, such as in Tennessee where Nomenus is referred to as “No women us”. Would a change in membership mean that there would be more people actually doing work for Nomenus and the Sanctuary? (I fear not) What do people in the Wolf Creek Sanctuary community want to do that not being a member of Nomenus precludes them from doing?
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;As with the last time that Great Circle met in Portland, I am proposing that at least half a day of the Circle be open to the larger community for a discussion of “membership”, and more importantly, how Nomenus can welcome and encourage the contributions of non-members.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Membership has been discussed in other posts with considerable rancor. I hope that the discussion in this can be inclusive without attack, and passionate without oppression.

&lt;br/&gt;I'm not really sure of sleeping arrangements, where I will stay, or who will be around and in town when I get there ...  I'm hoping my loved ones will be there to show me around the city.

The gathering covers a period from OCT. 26 - November 11th, with the intent of covering both the 31st as well as Lunar Samhain (the dark moon happening on the 9th of november.) Suggested contribution is $35 per day more if you can less if you can’t no one turned away for lack of funds... Please remember to pack for camping in cold wet weather, and please when thinking of offerings to the Samhain fire keep in mind that synthetics (ie plastics nylon, polyesther etc) are toxic when burned, so wear your faux pearls but please burn something else!       <title>Nomenus Great Circle</title>

&lt;br/&gt;Nomenus, the organization that owns and manages the Sanctuary in Wolf Creek has semi annual business meetings, called Great Circles, to decide the business affairs of the Corporation. The next Great Circle is to be held in Portland over the Martin Luther King weekend, January 19th, 20th, and 21st 2008.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;At this point, we are looking to enlist local faeries to help with the logistics of the meeting. We need a place to hold comfortably somewhere between 15 and 40 people. If a fee is involved, it helps to make it as minimal as possible. The Nomenus Chief Financial Officer can give a letter for tax purposes to an owner donating all or part of the usual fees for a rented space. It helps enormously to have kitchen facilities available to GC.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;We are anticipating having several members come to Portland for GC, who will need a place to stay. If anyone can put up GC visitors, please let me know.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Integrating food into a three day meeting can be difficult. There was one Great Circle where Path did a fabulous job of preparing the food in advance and essentially catering Great Circle. An unfortunate effect of this was that he could not participate fully in the meeting, although he did participate as much as he wanted.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I am volunteering to serve as Kitchen Queen for GC, and would love help! The way Path did it, almost all of the food was prepared at non-meeting times and then brought to the meeting, meaning that food people could be at almost all of the meeting. This is the method I would like to use. The menu I am envisioning will be simple, and address dietary concerns (Vegan, Veggie, allergies, etc.).
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;It is important to know how many people to expect for Great Circle. If you are planning on attending, please let me or the Caretaking Community at the Sanctuary know to expect you. Since the event in question is several months off, I will be posting periodic reminders of this.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I realize that “who can be a member of Nomenus” is an issue that has and continues to cause hurt feelings. I am posting below two sections from the Nomenus By-laws.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The first is the Mission Statement: “Nomenus exists to create, preserve and manage places of cultural/spiritual sanctuary, for radical Faeries and their friends to gather in harmony with nature, for renewal, growth and shared learning.”
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;When the By-laws were first adopted this is what it was:
&lt;br/&gt;“Article III. (original wording) [The specific purposes for which this corporation is organized are to establish and maintain a place for religious worship and assembly.]”
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The second is the wording concerning membership:
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Section 1. Qualifications and Number of Members/Directors.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A. A member of this corporation is any gay-identified man who signs and presents to an officer of the corporation, or another authorized person, a membership form agreeing to the purposes of the corporation as stated in Article III of these bylaws. In addition members of Nomenus agree to involve themselves actively in the implementation of the corporation’s goals and purposes, using the consensus decision-making process as defined in Article IV, Section 3.E.1-6, of these bylaws. Members further agree that to continue membership must be renewed annually.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I am not posting this thread to open up a discussion of Nomenus membership. I think that an ongoing discussion of membership is important and ask that a separate thread devoted to its discussion be posted.

      <title>Wood Gathering Gathering at Wolf Creek</title>

&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;We are planning a play-bor gather-ette to collect firewood for the upcoming winter. The gatherette will happen over Labor Day weekend from Thursday August 31st through Tuesday September 4th. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;This event is part of the move toward energy sufficiency, using renewable sources (wood) of heat, and economically sustainable means (gathering rather than buying firewood) at the Sanctuary. The wood gathered will be used to heat Garden House, Teresa, and Halston - discontinuing the regular use of propane in T&amp;amp;H. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;All those who share the desire to lessen the Sanctuary's dependence on the petro-chemical and electric power industries and would like to contribute their labor are welcome. We can promise tasty meals to satisfy varied dietary requirements (vegan, vegetarian, allergies, etc.) featuring fresh produce from the Sanctuary Garden. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;We are seeking people with chainsaw experience, workers who know how to lift, load, and carry wood safely, and participants of all genders and affectional preferences. Please, please, please call the Sanctuary at 541-866-2678 to inform us of your plans to come so adequate food may be on hand when everyone arrives. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;It would be totally fabulous to have massage people who would like to participate in easing the aches and pains of joyful labor. Likewise, if anyone would like to organize ride sharing from Portland, Seattle, the Bay Area, etc. that would be too cool. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The weather promises to be really hot during the day and coolish in the evenings. Gloves and most wood gathering equipment will be available. If you have saws (chain and/or hand) that you would like to bring, it would be most appreciated. Spare tents and some (minimal) bedding are available for people needing them. It is Oregon, so bring at least something that you can wear in the rain, which if you bring you will not need.
